Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 12, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Chef ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our mobile application and related services. By downloading, accessing, or using Chef, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide, maintain, and improve our service to you. Account & Profile Information: When you register an account, subscribe to Chef Pro, or set up your profile, we may collect your name, email address, account credentials, and customized cooking preferences (such as dietary filters or measurement units). Microphone and Voice Data: Chef utilizes your device's microphone solely for real-time, hands-free voice command navigation while cooking (e.g., listening for commands like "next step," "start," "stop," or "reset timer"). Audio streams are processed locally or via secure speech-recognition APIs to evaluate matching phrases. We do not record, store, archive, or sell your spoken audio data. Device, Usage, and Log Data: We automatically collect standard analytics regarding how you interact with the app, features accessed, session durations, crash logs, IP addresses, and device identifiers to optimize performance and debug technical errors.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following core purposes: To operate, secure, and deliver the core functionality of Chef. To process user accounts, manage authentication, and handle Chef Pro subscription tiers. To respond to customer support inquiries and provide important service updates. To monitor app stability, analyze aggregate usage trends, and improve the overall user experience.

3. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. However, we may employ trusted third-party service providers and partners to facilitate our service under strict confidentiality obligations: App Stores & Payment Processors: Financial transactions and subscriptions are handled securely through third-party app stores (such as Apple App Store and Google Play Store). We do not store or process your raw credit card details directly. Analytics and Infrastructure: We utilize standard cloud hosting, authentication databases, and crash-reporting tools to keep the app operational. These third parties only access data required to perform tasks on our behalf.

4. Data Retention and Security

Security Measures: We implement commercially acceptable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no electronic transmission over the internet is 100% secure. Data Retention: We retain your account data and profile preferences for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you services. If you choose to delete your account, we will purge or anonymize your personal information from our active databases, subject to legal or regulatory retention obligations.

5. Your User Rights and Account Deletion

You retain control over your personal data. Access and Updates: You can review and update your account details directly within your app profile settings. Opt-Out of Microphone Permissions: You can revoke microphone access at any time through your device's operating system settings (though doing so will disable hands-free voice navigation). Account Deletion: You have the right to request the complete deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time from within the app: open Profile → Settings → Delete my account. Deletion is immediate and permanent, removing your profile, published recipes, messages and saved data. You may also email contact@chefteam.app for help.

6. Children's Privacy

Chef is a general-audience cooking utility and does not knowingly collect, solicit, or store personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can remove it.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory changes. We will notify you of any material updates by posting the revised policy on this page with a new effective date.
